Breaking Barriers : life as a specially abled care leaver...chapter 1

Breaking Barriers : life of a specially abled care leaver.

Bathed in the sun's radiant glow, its warmth spills into a unique cell, offering solace to a prisoner amidst the external chaos. With closed eyes, humming a beautiful tune, the inmate delves into profound thoughts.

"Why is my world so different?

Why does society not embrace me like my peers?

Why discrimination?

Why unequal opportunities?

Why? ...

Why? ...

Why? ..."

In the midst of thought, the inner voice echoes, addressing the swirling questions.

"The answer is simple – you're a specially-abled care leaver."

This cell is your world, and the sun's glow brings fleeting happiness.

In a thunderous voice, the prisoner challenges,

"So what if I'm a care leaver?

So what if my 18th birthday was spent in an institute?

So what if I can't see this beautiful world?

So what if I can't walk?

So what if I face mental challenges?

So what if I'm poor and orphaned?

So what ...

So what ...

So what ..."

With broad shoulders, the prisoner responds with pride,

"This world is mine.

I have the right to bask in the sun's warmth, to laugh and cry, to live confidently and independently, to gaze at the blue sky, to walk on this earth, and to play just like others."

The inner voice, now restless, gently grasps the person's hands and whispers, "Allow me to reveal the true essence of our world to you."
