Beyond introduction:My LIFT fellowship journey

Hi, I'm Hajra Bano, hailing from the  land of Jammu and Kashmir. I have competed my general nursing and midwifery.

Prepare yourself as I am going to unveil the layers of my story. You might be wondering why I'm introducing myself in such a manner—what exactly is my motive? Allow me to share an important  chapter of my life, an indelible tale that sculpted the person I am today. This narrative isn't just about me; it's a journey that reshaped my entire existence, pushing me from a shadowed realm into a brilliantly illuminated world. Buckle up as I recount the story of my one-year journey in the LIFT Fellowship—a tale that is bound to captivate your senses and reveal the transformative power of resilience and growth. Despite facing my own battles as a specially-abled care leaver, I embarked on a remarkable journey that not only transformed me but aimed to make a difference in the lives of others like me.

My path led me to stage for a unique opportunity—the LIFT fellowship under Udayan Care and UNICEF. In this incredible venture, I delved into the heart of the challenges faced by specially-abled care leavers in Kashmir.

Armed with the mighty pen, I took on the mission to document the untold stories of specially-abled children. Navigating the corridors of various schools, I meticulously gathered data, giving voice to those whose struggles often go unheard and shared their voices through my blogs:

To fortify the 'care leavers network in Kashmir, I reached out to different care institutions, compiling a wealth of information that would ultimately contribute to a collective strength.

The fellowship journey was nothing short of but full of unforgettable moments. Weekly calls became a lifeline, connecting me with mentors and seniors who guided me with unwavering support. Monthly reports, field visit narratives, and a comprehensive learning report were my companions on this transformative journey.

A crucial aspect of this expedition was the Harappa course, a beacon illuminating new horizons of knowledge. Submitting bills became a routine, each receipt a testament to the dedication invested in this cause. And at the end of each month, a stipend—more than just financial support, a token of acknowledgment for the strides taken.

Emotionally and mentally, I emerged stronger, sharpening my leadership, writing, and verbal communication skills. The friendly and cooperative mentors, coordinators, and superiors turned this fellowship into a family where growth was not just encouraged but celebrated.

Attending workshops during this journey added layers to my understanding, enriching my perspective. Each moment of this fellowship is embedded in my memory, a mosaic of growth, resilience, and empowerment. I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have been part of this transformative experience.

This fellowship wasn't just about understanding the challenges faced by specially-abled care leavers; it was about crafting a version of myself that is emotionally and mentally fortified. Through the highs and lows of this journey, I discovered a resilience within me that I can now proudly carry into any future challenges.

Beyond the emotional growth, this fellowship provided a crucial pillar of financial support, a lifeline that enabled me to navigate life's uncertainties with confidence. Being a fellow in this program fills me with immense pride, as it not only nurtured my emotional and mental strength but also empowered me financially.

In the heart of this fellowship, I learned to stand on my own feet, making decisions that echoed with newfound confidence. The true beauty of this experience lies in its ability to teach me not only where I came from but, more importantly, where I aspire to be in the future. This fellowship has been a guiding light, shaping me into a person who can face challenges with pride and resilience, a testament to the transformative power of this remarkable journey.
